Your body needs hair follicle germs (HFG) in order to grow hair, the Japanese researchers discovered the "holy grail" in the form of silicone. One of the main reasons for its effectiveness is that it allows oxygen to pass through the hair cells.
Although you've probably never heard of it chances are you've eaten it at some point in your life as the silicone is also used at Subway, KFC, Pizza Hut and Domino's.
"This simple method is very robust and promising. We hope that this technique will improve human hair regenerative therapy to treat hair loss such as androgenic alopecia," Fukuda said.
But like all good things there's a catch, the chemical was used as a base to create new hair follicles not grow hair on its own.
