Stripping off, doubt starts to creep into your mind that your performance could make or break the relationship. Who doesn’t fear premature ejaculation?
But just how quick is quick? Science has the answer.
According to a scientific paper published in the the The Journal of Sexual Medicine, “acquired premature ejaculation” includes any sexual encounter that lasts less than three minutes.
To clarify whether that includes foreplay, scientists defined the medical condition as:

– ‘ejaculation that always or nearly always occurs prior to or within about 1 minute of vaginal penetration from the first sexual experience (lifelong) or a clinically significant and bothersome reduction in latency time, often to about 3 minutes or less (acquired)’
– ‘the inability to delay ejaculation on all or nearly all vaginal penetrations; and (iii) negative personal consequences, such as distress, bother, frustration, and/or the avoidance of sexual intimacy.’
However, the paper also notes that there are “subtypes” who although don’t suffer from premature ejaculation, still lack control over the timing of ejaculation and lack of ability to hold off from ejaculating

“This subtype is not considered a sexual dysfunction but rather a normal variation in sexual performance,” writes the paper.
Researchers hope the findings will lead to better diagnosis and treatment of premature ejaculation. Previous research suggests between 20 and 30 per cent of men suffer from premature ejaculation.
