7 In 10 People Reckon Their Partners Ignore Them On Purpose

If you think your partner is ignoring you when you ask them to complete a few menial tasks, you’re not alone: seven out of ten adults claim their partner is purposely ignoring them. And unfortunately, guys are the biggest culprits when it comes to selective hearing.

According to the survey conducted by Scrivens Hearing Care, men “will not hear’” what their partner is saying on seven occasions a week, more than 350 times a year. Meanwhile, our female counterparts will choose to ignore around six times a week.

But while selective hearing may be real, more than half of the 2000 respondents said they think their partners could have genuine hearing difficulties. Four in ten also added that they know their significant other has hearing issues.

“Most of us will have experienced ‘selective hearing’ – either being the accused or the accuser,” says Kirran SaimbiScrivens senior hearing aid audiologist.

“Joking aside, ‘selective hearing’ could be a sign of hearing loss.

“Left ignored, hearing loss can lead to isolation, depression and there is evidence of a link with dementia.”

Anything to get out of doing a couple chores…right?
