Try These Simple, Protein Packed Man-Cakes

Occasionally a recipe comes along that is so simple, but so delicious, it makes us wonder if we’ve missed our calling as professional chefs. While we most definitely aren’t close to master chef status, this quick, simple and healthy breakfast recipe could have us fooled. Even we couldn’t mess it up!

Whether you want to impress your date the morning after, or you’re chasing quick gains post-gym session, give these “man-cakes” a try. They’re crammed full of protein and more often than not, you’ll have these ingredients lying around the kitchen.

Ingredients

1 Large Banana

3 Eggs

1 Large Scoop of Peanut Butter

1 Scoop of Vanilla Protein Powder

Handfull of fresh berries

2 Tablespoons of Natural Yoghurt

Method

  1. Add your banana, peanut butter, eggs and protein powder together and blend into a smooth ‘batter’.

    • Keep the recipe healthy by using natural, chemical free ingredients with no added sugar. Try Pic’s Peanut Butter (the only ingredients are peanuts and salt!) and a natural protein such as NuZest’s Clean Lean Protein
    • Whilst we recommend vanilla, this is your opportunity to flavour your pancakes, so if you want chocolate or strawberry pancakes, add in a flavoured protein powder.
  2. Pour your batter into a pan. The mixture will cook quite quickly, so do not leave unattended for long. Leave to cook for 30 seconds, and then flip your pancake. Repeat this step until you run out of batter. You should get 4-5 large pancakes out of the mixture.

  3. The rest is up to you! While the pancakes already have a solid flavour, you can sweeten the deal by garnishing with fresh berries and some natural yoghurt. (Make sure you keep it healthy by opting for a low sugar option such as Chobani Plain Greek Yoghurt)
