Trying out crazy sex positions is fun, but for nights when you’re wiped out from work and just want a little vanilla lovin’, you and your girl are probably going to fall into that tried-and-true standby, missionary. But just because the move is familiar, it doesn’t mean the sex has to be boring. As always, the devil’s in the details. Make these small tweaks for amazing missionary.
1. Reach for pillows
Putting a few firm cushions or pillows under her butt will elevate her hips and close her vagina canal. That’ll create a tighter fit for your penis, which will feel great for you while also stimulating more of her pleasure-sensitive nerve endings, says relationship expert and sex columnist Tracey Cox.
2. Caress her clitoris
Women don’t always feel comfortable touching themselves during sex, especially when you’re on top, watching their every move, says sex therapist Ava Cadell, author of NeuroLoveology. But you can encourage her – and help her get off – by gently massaging her clitoris or using a sex toy, like a vibrator, to stimulate her sexual trigger point. A vibrating penis ring is also a great option, Cadell adds.
3. Change the scenery
“Take it outside the bedroom,” recommends Sadie Allison, a doctor of human sexuality and author of The Mystery of the Undercover Clitoris. “Missionary on the couch can improve things drastically just from the mere excitement of switching up your location,” she promises. Pro tip: grab a towel to lay down wherever you decide to set up shop. That way neither of you will worry about making a mess, Allison says.

4. Elevate your lovemaking
Try lifting her legs up and have her rest her feet on your shoulders, Cox advises. This will allow for deeper penetration while also introducing a new angle of thrust, she says.
5. Unleash the CAT.
The “coital alignment technique” is a research-backed way to increase the odds of her having an orgasm by 56 per cent, according to a study in the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy. It’s also really simple: during missionary, instead of lying chest to chest, slide yourself a little farther up and to the side of her torso, with your pecs resting on or close to one of her shoulders.
