This Is The Amount of Sex You Should Have Each Week To Be Happy

You’d be forgiven for thinking that the more sex you have the happier you’ll be. Why? Because sex rocks, and most guys are keen to get it on as often as possible. But according to a 2015 study, this might not be the case.

Recent research, published in Social Psychological and Personality Sciences has found that in order to maximise your happiness, you should have sexy only once a week. We bet a lot of you are scoffing at this finding, but well let Amy Muise, assistant psychology professor at Toronto’s York University and study author explain.

“Sex is associated with feeling more satisfied in a relationship,” she says, which is why sex plays such a huge role in relationships. What is surprising to note is that couple’s happiness does not increase the more times they have sex.

Muise says there’s nothing wrong with increasing the frequency if both partners are down for it, but “it just doesn’t seem to make couples any happier.”

In fact, a recent study out of San Diego State University revealed that couples in the U.S. are having far less sex now than they were having in the 90’s and 2000’s. The reason? Study author and psychology professor Jean Twenge puts this down to on-demand entertainment like YouTube and Netflix.

“Our entertainment is more entertaining, and more on-demand than it once was,” she says. “There are a lot more things to do at 10pm at home than there used to be.”
