According to a new study published in the journal Scientific Reports, researchers found that men receive an "attractiveness boost" when he's catching the eyes of other women.
The report looked at the preferences of women for a potential romantic partner by showing them images of men's hands, faces and a piece of art. After rating each man, the women were then shown the average rating by the rest of participants. Interestingly, after seeing what the rest of the group had rated the male individuals, females changed their answer based on this new information.
"Women appear to copy the mate preferences of other women but this might simply be because humans have a general tendency to be influenced by the opinions of others," says research leader Dr Kate Cross.
Previously an Oklahoma State University study found that women found men in a relationship more attractive because he was deemed to be more mature and faithful, while possessing fatherly qualities.
