Science Reveals The Type of Guy Most Likely to Steal Your Girl

Every time you relent and watch a chick-flick with your girl, it always seems to end with them foaming at the mouth at the sight of Ryan Gosling professing his love or Zac Efron stripping off his shirt.

Everyone has a Hollywood crush – you tell yourself it’s no big deal. Unfortunately, a new study suggests that while you needn’t feel threatened by Gosling or Efron themselves, these are the types of guys who are most likely to steal your girl.

Research out of Regent’s University London and Oakland University in the US suggests that men with wealth and good looks – no matter how much we hate to accept it – have a high potential to lure your girl away from you.

The study involved more than 200 women, who were asked to picture themselves in a relationship and to detail its various stages. Researchers documented different requirements at the various stages for a potential suitor trying to steal your girl.

The results suggest that the more intense the relationship, the more extraordinary the grass-cutter has to be. Put simply, she isn’t going to cheat with any average Joe. But if he’s wealthy and attractive? Possibly.

Study author Alistair Davies acknowledges that the chances of someone stealing the heart of your partner is a lot higher than most guys realise.

“Our study indicates that poachers who are sufficiently wealthier and more attractive than the partner of the person being poached can successfully entice people into one-night stands, sexual affairs or even new monogamous relationships,” she says.

“However, to achieve this, the extent to which poachers need to be wealthier and more attractive than the partner of the person being poached has to steadily increase in line with the commitment in an existing relationship – ranging from ‘just dating’ up to being married.”

Davies said the research also found that if a partner felt dissatisfied in the relationship or valued herself higher than her partner, she was more likely to take part in extra-martial affairs.

While the study makes unnerving reading, it’s a useful reminder that there will always be other guys richer, more charming and better looking than you are – no matter what your mum tells you.

The trick is to treat her well. And as a back-up plan, hit the gym and get big enough that no bastard will have the balls to try and steal her in the first place.
