Single Men Stink More Than Blokes In A Relationship, Finds New Study

You’d think that a single fella on the prowl might put a bit more effort into his grooming routine. But turns out those coupled up fair a lot better in the B.O. department.

New findings published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology has found that single men have much strong body odour, but this is actually due to higher testosterone levels.

Researchers from Macquarie University recruited 82 heterosexual women to rate the body odour and faces of men aged between 18 and 35.

In the experiment, singletons had to work up a sweat before women smelt the armpits of their worn t-shirts.

Results showed that when it came to smelliness, women rated single men on average 3.5 out of 6, while their coupled up counterparts rated slightly lower at 6.

Interestingly, females also found that bachelors appeared more masculine than those in a relationship.

“Consistent with the hypothesis, single men’s B.O smelled stronger than partnered men’s B.O and single men’s faces were rated as more masculine than partnered men’s faces,” write the researchers.
