If You’ve Slept With Less Than This Many People, Women Consider You ‘Sexually Inexperienced’

It’s a question that’s eventually going to get asked in every relationship: “how many people have you slept with?”

It’s a tough question as it puts you in a very precarious position – give a number that’s too low and she’ll think you’re a loser, give a number that’s too high and she’ll think you’re a man-whore.

You could always just tell the truth and hope for the best, but more often than not we tend to fabricate our true number in fear of a negative reaction (a.k.a. not getting laid).

Well, you don’t have to agonise any longer because a recent sex survey has provided us with the answer – and it’s probably more than you’d expect.

According to the survey by IllicitEncounters.com (which happens to be a dating website for married people, by the way), the magic number of sexual partners considered acceptable by both males AND females is 12.

Why 12? According to the survey, a dozen partners is the ideal number as it paints a picture of someone who’s ‘sexually adventurous, liberal and transient’.

If you’re thinking of fudging your numbers, don’t go any higher than 19, as you’ll be seen as ‘selfish’, ‘difficult to please’ or ‘too eager to jump from partner to partner’.

While many people worry about giving a number that’s too high, it turns out that there’s actually a number that’s too low. According to the study, people who’ve slept with less than 10 people are seen as ‘too conservative and sexually inexperienced’. Tad harsh, don’t you think?

But while these are the numbers people want to hear, it doesn’t necessarily mean they want to know. More than half of all women (55 per cent) said they had no interest in knowing how many people their partner had slept with. Men were slightly different, with more than half (53 per cent) wanting to know just how many people their girl had gotten it on with.
