Roger Federer Just Released His Own Line Of Sneakers

Every once in a while, an invention comes along that’s so profound, it changes the world as we know it: The lightbulb. Golf gloves. The Kayo Sports app. Roger Federer’s new signature shoe is absolutely worthy of a spot on this list.

Although the 20-time Grand Slam champ was a Nike ambassador for years (prior to his $300 mil deal with Uniqlo) he’s just unveiled a sneaker series in partnership with On – a Swiss running brand he owns a part-stake in.

The kicks in question – aptly named The Roger – look like your run-of-the-mill white tennis shoe… except way cooler. They feature a vegan leather upper, comfy CloudtTec sole and Speedboard, which provides speed and energy return. Look closely and you’ll also see a small Swiss flag, as well as the original dates of the Wimbledon tournament etched in gold.

“The minimalist design and easy comfort of On’s shoes had me hooked years ago,” Federer told Complex. “I wanted to infuse the tennis sneaker with the same lightness, comfort, and agility for every day.”

He also designed the shoe with “sleekness” in mind. “I grew up in the ’90s where there was always very bold and big logos, and we hid them away and made it more secret and almost like you will not see the logo.”

The best news? There are alternate colour-ways coming.

“There are definitely different colours coming and different styles,” he added. “There will be more series coming, there will be changes to this model as well going forward.”
