People Who Use Emojis Have More Sex, Finds Study

Go on, fire that eggplant emoji. Chances are your sex life will thank you for it.

New research from Kinsey Institute found that people who use more emojis online went on more dates and had more sex.

While sending emojis didn’t help score the first date, scientists discovered that throwing a smiley face or two in there improved the chances of landing that second date. Emoji users also had a higher success rate when it came to kissing on dates, hitting a home run or even ending up in a relationship.

Of the 5000 participants, 86.6 per cent identified as straight while 62.2 per cent identified as white Caucasian.

“We find that the use of emojis allows daters to communicate important affective information to potential partners which facilitates successful intimate connection and more romantic and sexual opportunities,” writes the study.

“This suggests that those who use emojis more often in this context are more successful at establishing connection and thus enjoy more opportunities for romantic and sexual engagement.”

However, despite the promising findings, researchers didn’t examine the type of emoji (maybe don’t fire off that eggplant just yet) nor the delivery of the emoji (don’t send the wet emoji the night before your date).

“We cannot fully know which emojis are most effective at helping to form connections between people,” the study added.
