Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather.
Less than a year ago it seemed like the fight would remain a fantasy for every fighting fan around the world, but now it appears closer to happening than ever before.
Dana White has announced that he has finished negotiations with McGregor over the proposed fight due to take place later this year.
“The McGregor side is done, I’m starting to work on the Mayweather side now,” White told TNT.
“I’m not saying the fight will happen, but I got one side done, now it’s time to work on the other.
“If we can come to a deal with [Al] Haymon and [Floyd] Mayweather, the fight’s going to happen,” said White.
McGregor also released a statement on TheMacLife.com confirming the news.
“It is an honour to sign this record breaking deal alongside my partners Zuffa LLC, The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Paradigm Sports Manager,” McGregor wrote.
“The first, and most important part of this historic contract has now officially been signed off on. Congratulations to all parties involved. We now await Al Haymon and his boxer’s signature in the coming days.”
The speculation has been the fight will take place on September 16 in Las Vegas, but for now we wait. The ball’s in your court, Floyd.
