Popping an abscess isn’t the medically-advisable method for handling an unwanted skin blemish. But even though this man had first visited a doctor to deal with the issue, the painful lump returned with a vengeance. Apparently, he then felt forced to take matters into his own hands.

As you can see in the video above, this man takes a pair of scissors to poke and prod at the abscess until a yellowish pus starts to emerge. Hopefully, you’re watching this clip between meals.

Due to the possibility of infection, this man’s approach to eradicating this issue isn’t one we’d recommend. If you’re able to catch a blemish like this in its early stages—say, when it’s as small as a zit—here’s the three-step approach to nipping it in the bud.

1. Grab a wash cloth and soak it in hot water; press the cloth to the blemish for one minute.

2. Apply 10 percent benzoyl peroxide cream to the affected area.

3. Place a Band-Aid over the and keep it on overnight.

However, when an abscess has become as large as the one in this video, your best bet is to see a doctor or dermatologist. Keep the scissors in the kitchen drawer.
