Man Locks His Head In A Cage Every Day To Quit Smoking

Despite effect health campaigns and growing education surrounding the dangers of smoking, almost 15 per cent of the world’s population can’t shake the habit. This is according to the latest …. Results, who say that one in every seven adults still light up daily.

And the reason is clear, smoking is obviously highly addictive. Waves of techniques, devices, gums and inhalers have been developed and mass marketed in an attempt to help smokers beat their addictions. However it’s clear that these more traditional methods aren’t enough to help everyone.

One such man is Ibrahim Yücel, a Turkish man who has taken matters into his own hands, and create a ‘cage’ for his head, which stops him from chugging away on the cancer sticks. Speaking to Turkish media outlet, Hürrivet, the 42 year old explained how he fashioned the cage after all of his previous attempts to quit had failed. Points for creativity!

Yürel’s headwear is most likely going to help him shed a few kilos too, as the cage prevents him from eating anything other than liquid through a straw, and crackers.

Although his willpower wasn’t enough to help him quit, his commitment to the cage has to be commended, and some form of strength is definitely required to commit wearing it day in, day out. After smoking 2 cigarettes a day since the age of 16, and seeing his father sadly pass away due to lung cancer, Yücel explained that needed to kick the habit by any means necessary. His family are extremely supportive, and they hold the keys to the cage during the day.

After going to such drastic lengths, let’s hope that the method pays off for Yücel, as we’re not really sure what greater efforts anyone could go to in order to quit.
