Lipoma is a benign condition caused by a buildup of fat cells in one area—a big, painless lump of fat that looks pretty weird under the skin. It's removed, usually, with a simple incision and extraction procedure, which looks remarkably like removing a giant boneless chicken thigh out of someone's skin and—y'know what? Just watch this video. There's a lot of stuff out there on the Internet, but holy crap, you have to see this.
Dr. Sandra Lee, a.k.a. Dr. Pimple Popper, is a dermatologist in Upland, California, who's achieved viral fame though her calm, clinical, and utterly horrifying videos of pimple popping, boil lancing, blackhead removing, cyst-draining, and this, the final stage of unsightly skin conditions, the removal of a gigantic, fist-sized lump of fat from a woman's arm in about ten minutes of footage.
Lee cuts a flap out of the skin of her patient's arm, and then spends the next five minutes snipping, tugging, and teasing out the massive lipoma in her arm, which looks startlingly like a piece of raw chicken. To her credit, Lee's bedside manner is wonderful, joking with the patient as she's literally performing a flesh exorcism.
The woman in this video says that her daughter turned her on to Lee's videos—which the patient says she can't watch—but that she was more than willing to participate in.
Pimple popping can be incredibly satisfying, and Dr. Lee's managed to tap into the voyeuristic nature of the Internet. Her YouTube channel has nearly 3 million subscribers, and honestly, it's one of the more wholesome places on the internet, where fans congratulate her on her quick, efficient, educational work and compliment patients on how much better they look. Lee's videos are far more professional than, say, this DIY horror show of drunken pimple excision, but they're no less cathartic when a giant mass of something icky gets removed from the skin.
Anyway, watch the video, and try not to get lost in Dr. Lee's YouTube channel. Hopefully, you're at least an hour post-lunch at this point.
