In possibly the most random news of the day, retired NBA player Lamar Odom and former pop star Aaron Carter are scheduled to fight in a boxing match this year.

According to TMZ, the fight will be a three-round exhibition taking place on June 12 at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City.

The combination of the two is an interesting choice: Odom, who actually has some experience as an athlete is 41-years-old and stands at a basketball average of 6’10. In the opposite corner, Carter, a former pop star, is 33-years-old with a height of 6’1″.

While it is great to see Odom return to sport, following his near-death experience in 2015 when he overdosed at a Nevada brothel – and subsequently suffered several strokes and heart attacks, it’s interesting to see how his athletic ability has changed.

Carter has also struggled with addiction, seeking treatment in 2017.

The pair have reportedly been taking the fight prep incredibly serious, with Odom training alongside Xavier Biggs in Atlanta, Georgia, and Aaron (who “grew up street fighting”) spending as much time as he can at the gym.

“It’s gonna be a war, man. It’s gonna be a knockout, there’s no doubt,” Celebrity Boxing CEO Damon Feldman told TMZ. “Well, after seeing [Odom] training, he was training down there with the same guy that trains Kevin Hart, and he was training good. … His comeback is gonna be phenomenal, and same with Aaron Carter.”

Well… there you go.
