Jeep has created five custom Wrangler vehicles as well as one-off Renegade and Wagoneer concepts ahead of the annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari later this month.
While the new Jeep concepts are built with prototype parts, they also feature an assortment of factory add-ons developed by the Mopar brand which are available to the public.
The US carmaker hopes this will demonstrate the ways in which Jeep owners can further enhance their vehicles, with more than 200 Mopar parts already available for the all-new Wrangler on the Jeep Performance Parts catalogue.
Perhaps the wildest of the new Jeep concepts, the Sandstorm was inspired by Baja 1000 desert racers and is suitably set-up for high speed driving on sandy terrains with raised suspension, an extended wheelbase and a 6.4-litre V8 under the bonnet.
The bright-orange Sandstorm looks the business with high-clearance bumpers, flared guards, a carbon-fibre bonnet, special auxiliary lighting and a roll cage.
The back doors and the roof from the B-pillar rearwards have also been deleted, creating a ute-like profile that could hint at the upcoming Wrangler ute production model.
The 4SPEED concept is designed for slower-going, with a shortened body for better approach and departure angles, carbon-fibre components throughout for reduced weight, and the Wrangler’s new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder motor providing the power.
The roofless SUV rides on 18-inch monoblock wheels with 35-inch tyres and boasts a loud blue colour scheme.
Possibly the most heavily modified concept is the Nacho Jeep, a two-door Wrangler Rubicon that serves as a catalogue on wheels for Mopar, with extensive modifications including front and rear custom bumpers, winch kit, LED lights on the A-pillar and front bumper, tube doors, rock rails and vented hood adorned with the all-new Jeep Performance Parts badge.
Off-road performance is bolstered by a 2.0-inch lift kit and 17-inch beadlock rims with 37-inch mud-terrain tyres, while performance comes courtesy of the 2.0-litre turbo engine.
The Jeepster concept harks back to classic off-road design, with its two-tone paint scheme, bespoke hardtop and tall stance. Many of the Jeepster’s components were installed direct from the Jeep Performance Parts catalogue.
Sharing the same lift kit and tyre set-up as the Nacho Jeep, the Jeepster also features LED lights, leather upholstery, relocation of the spare tyre to inside the cabin, a rock step and conceptual storage packs mounted to the tailgate.
The most conservative of the Wrangler concepts is the J-Wagon, which aims to blend on-road usability with off-road capability.
Features include a snorkel, unique grey paint colour with bronze accents, 5.0-inch LED lights, Sahara bumper and 17-inch slot-design alloy wheels.
Jeep has also included a blast from the past with a 1966 Wagoneer that retains its original body with new chassis and engine.
The Wagoneer Roadtrip is modified with a stretched wheelbase, wider track, custom fender flares, reshaped wheel wells and bumpers, integrated rock rails, silver razor grille and a vintage pastel green paint finish.
It also boasts considerable off-road ability with upgraded Dana 44 axles with front and rear diff locks, four-link suspension with coilover springs, 17-inch steel wheels wrapped in 33-inch mud-terrain rubber and a 5.7-litre V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.
The last concept is a take on the Renegade small SUV called the B-Ute, which comes with a 1.5-inch lift kit, all-terrain tyres with 17-inch rims, roof rack and rock rails. It is motivated by Jeep’s 2.4-litre Tigershark aspirated petrol engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Jeep’s Moab Easter safari runs from March 24 to April 1.
