This Guy Trained Like Chris Hemsworth For 90 Days, And His Results Were Insane

Last year, fitness YouTuber Erik Conover set himself the challenge of getting back in shape by eating, training and generally living like Thor actor Chris Hemsworth for one month, by following the nutrition plans, workouts and meditation routines on the actor’s Centr app. He ditched alcohol, processed sugar and cheat days, and strictly adhered to the diets and daily schedule — which included a 5 a.m. wakeup call.

Over the course of 30 days, Conover lost 3.6kg and 7 per cent body fat, leading to visible results in muscle definition. “I feel healthy, I feel fast, I feel fit,” he said. “I’m actually pretty close to being in the best shape of my life.” He enjoyed the results so much, in fact, that he decided to keep going, and continued eating and working out like Hemsworth for another month.

“So then some time passed, and the craziest thing happened,” he said. “Chris actually saw the video, and I got the invitation to do a workout with him.”

On the 60th day of the challenge, Conover met up with Hemsworth at a gym in New York City. They warmed up with 1.6km run on the treadmill and some dynamic stretching. “This circuit is quick, but it will have you burning after the first round,” he said.

The first exercise was a reverse lunge into an explosive dumbbell press, followed by sit-throughs; a staple exercise in Centr workouts. Next up were sets of hostage pulses, dumbbell deadlift into curl press, and bear crawls. They then worked their backs and cores with bent-over rows and finished with tricep extensions. They completed the entire circuit four times, with two-minute rest windows in between.

“Movement creates motivation,” said Hemsworth. “Rather than sitting around waiting to be motivated to do these things, if you just sort of flip the switch and understand that by moving and generating that momentum and that movement, the motivation then snowballs.”

Galvanised by his training session with the God of Thunder himself, Conover kept that momentum going, and carried on with his Hemsworth-inspired fitness regime up until the 90-day point.

“Over the last month or so, the workouts have fully become a part of my lifestyle,” he said. “My goal with this challenge was to put on some muscle, and I’ve noticed some pretty massive strength gains.”
