Brad Pitt Makes Surprise Debut As Marvel’s Latest Hero… In Deadpool 2

The go-to man of the early 2000’s, Brad Pitt, has been a lot quieter in recent years. Playing more mature characters in his movie, the 54 year-old could be forgiven for slowing down.

However just when we think he’s gone, Pitt makes a hilarious and surprising return to the big screen, popping up in latest superhero blockbuster, Deadpool 2.

Without giving any of the story away, Pitt plays superhero Vanisher, who’s super power is being invisible. He’s so effective in the role, that Pitt’s actual face only appears on screen for a literal second.

Apparently, Brad was originally in the running to play the villain in the flick, Cable. Although the role ultimately went to Marvel bad-ass of the moment Josh Brolin (he’s also currently Thanos in Avengers Infinity War), Pitt was a serious consideration. “We had a great meeting with Brad, he was incredibly interested in the property. Things didn’t work out schedule-wise. He’s a fan, and we love him, and I think he would’ve made an amazing Cable,” director David Leitch told ComicBook.com last year.

Pitt seems like a logical choice to play a superhero in the Marvel Universe, given the incredible shape and health he maintains. And the secret behind his longevity seems to lie not in what he’s taken up, but what he’s quit.

Talking to GQ, Pitt explains how he keeps healthy by quitting pot and alcohol.

“I enjoy wine very, very much, but I just ran it to the ground. I had to step away for a minute. And truthfully I could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka. I was a professional. I was good,” said Pitt. “Don’t want to live that way anymore.”

So what does Pitt turn to now. He credits his health and energy to matcha, mineral water and cranberry juice.

“I’ve got the cleanest urinary tract in all of L.A., I guarantee you!”

Pitt is gearing up for a role alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in new Tarantino film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood…

Deadpool 2 is in cinemas now.
